Ford Ball Valve Corporation Stop Suggested Specification
3/4" through 2" Corporation Stops shall be of the ball valve type, meeting AWWA Standard
C800-01, Sec. 4.2.3 (High Pressure), withstanding working pressures up to 300 psi. The
following components; the body, ball, operating stem, T-head, and service line connectors
shall be manufactured from red brass and conform to ASTM B62 and/or ASTM B584, UNS
No. C83600. The ball shall be flourocarbon coated. The ball shall float on two rubber
seatss and be watertight in both directions. The operating stem and nut shall be one piece
and shall be held in place by a mating machined flange on the stem and in the body. The
operating stem shall have an EPDM O-ring to provide a watertight seal against the body
of the Corporation Stop. Each stop shall be individually tested for leaks; batch testing is
not allowed. The valve shall be watertight at any pressure up to 300 PSI.
Inlet threads shall be an AWWA Taper, unless iron pipe threads are specified. All thread
types and diameters shall conform to AWWA C800. The inlet threads will be integral to
the body; the outlet shall be assembled and sealed against a precision machined brass
bead withing the body and secured with adhesive to prevent unintentional disassemby.
The waterway diameter shall be approximately equivalent to the nominal size of the stop,
and shall accomodate the maximum cutter size established by AWWA C800. The outlet
shall be a compression connection meeting AWWA C800 Se. 4.4.9.
All threads shall be capped for protection against damage during shipment or handling.
Stops shall be shipped well boxed and marked with size and type. All stops shall be well
designed, have a good appearance and be entirely suitable for their intended purpose.
All Corporation Stops shall be FB Style Ballcorps, as manufactured by The Ford Meter
Box Company, Inc., Wabash, Indiana, or prior approved equal.
