Ford FC2W Wide Range Coupling Suggested Specification

4" through 12" wide range cast couplings shall comply with all applicable ASTM Specifications.
Specifically, the center sleeve and the end rings shall be Ductile Iron per ASTM A536, 65-45-12.
The gasket material will be manufactured of Buna-N rubber per ASTM D2000, and the 5/8" heavy
hex bolts and nuts are to be low alloy per ASTM A193 and A194. Standard coating shall be fusion-
bonded epoxy applied per AWWA C213.

The coupling design shall include prelubricated gaskets having a convex surface that cradles
against the concave ends of the coupling sleeve. The contact of the gasket and sleeve during
installation shall activate movement that specifically directs the gasket toward the pipe for an
accelerated and optimal hydraulic seal. This unique design also allows minimal nut travel and
simultaneously provides a wider pipe range without compromising the pressure rating. 4" through
12" wide range cast couplings shall effectively seal at 250 psi water pressure. The coupling shall
allow simple installation without disassembly of any components, without field lubrication, using a
standard deep well socket. Proper installation shall require only 50 ft lb. of torque to seal at 250 psi.
The end rings shall be designed with sufficient material and strength to allow a minimal number of
bolts, providing additional ease of installation.

The couplings shall meet all of the values stated in the table below, meeting these pipe ranges
without alternate end rings or gaskets, without reducing the 250 psi pressure rating:
